Scale & Clean
Scaling and cleaning removes plaque that’s been hardened and calcified over time. We call this calculus or tartar. Unfortunately, calculus can’t be removed with a brush and floss and if left for a long period it can cause gum disease. Once it causes receding gums, it’s difficult to get the gums back, so we always recommend that you see your dentist regularly to keep on top of your gum health.
How often scaling and cleaning needs to be done depends on the individual, but we mostly recommend six monthly visits to keep your teeth healthy. We know that a lot of people are hesitant about having their teeth cleaned. Dr Kim and Dr Eng take their time to make sure that your teeth are as clean as possible, but also so that they can do it gently.
If you have severe gum recession or gum disease, we will work with specialists to make sure you get the right care so that you can keep your teeth for as long as possible.
